The Graduate Student Advisory Committee meets monthly during the academic year. The Director of Graduate and Special Programs serves as Chair of the Graduate Student Advisory Committee. The Graduate and Special Program Operations Coordinator also serves on the advisory committee. Both the Chair of the Graduate Student Advisory Committee and the Graduate and Special Program Operations Coordinator set the agenda and keep running notes of meetings. Members of the Graduate Student Advisory Committee send agenda items in advance to the Graduate and Special Program Operations Coordinator. All relevant documents are shared with the Graduate Student Advisory Committee members on a Google Drive folder.

In any given year, the Graduate Student Advisory Committee shall be composed of students currently enrolled in Smith College Graduate and Special Programs - one student liaison per program. The members of the Graduate Student Advisory Committee serve as members of the committee as well as liaisons for their individual graduate and special programs. Members can serve on the Graduate Student Advisory Committee for two consecutive years.

Responsibilities

The charge of the Smith College Graduate Student Advisory Committee shall be to: 

  • Meet monthly during the academic year.
  • Offer advice and serve in a consultative role.
  • Communicate on behalf of Smith College graduate and special program students.
  • Develop and maintain an inter-departmental culture among Smith College graduate and special program students.
  • Promote and celebrate the work and achievements of Smith College graduates and special program students.
  • Develop and maintain resources for Smith College graduate and special program students.
