Meet the slate of nominees for the new AASC leadership positions.

Elizabeth Turrell Farrar (Betsy) ’79

Vice President | 2026-2030

Retiring after a 41-year legal career with the Vorys law firm in Columbus, Ohio, Farrar transitioned to a civic leader, with her corporate/finance expertise benefiting her service on the Boards of multiple Central Ohio nonprofit organizations supporting education, the arts and her community. In addition to her work on behalf of UVA Law School, Farrar is Co-President and Co-Planned Giving Chair for the Smith College Class of 1979 and a member of the AASC Board of Directors. She previously served as Chair of the AASC Nominating Committee and as President of the Smith College Club of Columbus.

Ann Silverman ’96

Alumna Trustee | 2026-2030

Ann Silverman AC ’96 is the wealth area executive for M&T Bank’s Northeast region, overseeing teams that provide Wilmington Trust’s wealth management advice and solutions. Silverman joined M&T Bank in 2004, helping to build and eventually lead Wilmington Trust’s wealth management banking team, and participated in M&T’s international program, working for Allied Irish Banks in Dublin. Earlier in her career, Silverman was a project manager and exhibition developer for the Smithsonian—both at the National Museum of American History and at the National Museum of the American Indian., where she now serves on the board of trustees. The recipient of a bachelor’s degree in history from Smith and a master’s degree in finance from Wharton, Silverman is Ojibwe and a member of the Bay Mills Indian Community in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Sylvia Bolivar ’88

Director | 2026-2030

Sylvia Bolivar is a public sector executive with extensive experience in housing, economic development, policy development and program management. She currently serves as the Deputy Director at the Baltimore County Department of Housing and Community Development. Sylvia also brings corporate governance experience through her work with not-for-profit boards. She serves as Chair of the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System Board of Trustees. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Smith College.

Dana Brown ’99

Director | 2026-2030

Dana currently serves as Planned Giving Chair for her class and has made significant efforts to increase participation. A "Smith Star" standout since she graduated, Dana believes in full financial commitment to the institution. She has also represented Smith at career days and can't help but champion her alma mater. Her role at the nation's leading boarding school, Lawrenceville School, puts her in touch with prospective students regularly, and she shares her love for women's education and her amazing experiences in Northampton. Dana is a dedicated representative who continues to embody the Smith spirit in all her professional endeavors.

Susan Pollack ’78

Director | 2026-2030

A pediatrician, Pollack specialized in primary care, public health, and injury prevention. She provides child passenger safety education and grant-funded car seats to domestic violence survivors, refugees, immigrants, and foster children in Kentucky cities and rural mountain communities. Her mother and one daughter were also dedicated Smithies.

Bethany Claps ’16

Nominating Committee | 2026-2029

Claps is a project manager at 4flow, driving supply chain optimization initiatives across the consumer goods, industrial, and life sciences sectors. She supports Smith by engaging with students in the Picker Engineering Program through career conversations and mentorship.  

Erin Molloy AC’09

Nominating Committee | 2026-2029

With over 15 years in the archival and historical fields, Molloy has pursued bringing the stories of women and marginal groups to the forefront of history. Currently at the National Archives and Records Administration, she also volunteers with the Girl Scouts, the Ada Class at Smith College, and activist organizations in Washington, DC.
