SOFA Cushion Fund

The SOFA Cushion Fund is an arts-focused grant fund for Smith College students, faculty, and staff that aims to support creative collaborations at Smith by making funding available to a wide variety of projects across campus and between disciplines. SOFA aims to support the creation and presentation of arts projects and experiences that enhance the cultural landscape at Smith.

The Cushion Fund welcomes unique and innovative proposals that often otherwise lack funding and support, and that involve the arts and creative practice in broad terms.

Propose a Cushion Fund Project

Note that proposals under $500 will be reviewed on a rolling basis and those above $500 will be reviewed once each semester.

The spring 2025 deadline is March 14.

Student Proposals

Individual students, groups of students, and student organizations are invited to propose arts-based projects that contribute to the creative life of the Smith community and emphasize the role and importance of the arts.

Faculty & Staff Proposals

Faculty and staff at Smith College are encouraged to apply for funding for arts-based projects that enhance the creative culture of the Smith College community.

Proposal Steps

Review the appropriate application portal and guidelines, and complete and submit the appropriate application, including the provided budget template.

The committee will review applications and contact applicants with any questions or concerns.
