Quad Heating & Cooling System
Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to your guide for understanding how the heating and cooling systems work in the Quad. This FAQ is designed to help you know what to expect, how to report issues, and where to find updates.
Why is my radiator not working?
Inner Quad radiators have been tagged out and are no longer operational. These units are currently non-functional and not connected to steam anymore.
How is my room heated or cooled?
Your room is conditioned by a Fan Coil Unit (FCU). The system automatically adjusts to heating or cooling based on outdoor temperatures:
- Heating activates when outdoor temperatures drop below 55°F
- Cooling activates when temperatures rise above 65°F
My room feels too cold or hot—what should I do?
- Make sure your window is closed.
- Adjust your thermostat to a comfortable setting (typically between 68–72°F).
- If the issue persists, submit a work order.
Thermostats are programmed to maintain comfort within a range of +\- 2°F.
Will I be notified about system changes or repairs?
Yes! Updates will be shared through:
- Emails from Residence Life or Facilities
- Notices on the Facilities website
- Signage in rooms and common areas
