On Saturday, Nov. 7 in Scott Gym, the Smith College basketball team will host Gameday at the Birthplace, the first-ever Division III women’s basketball game day held on campus. The free event, which is sponsored by Smith and Nike, will feature face painting, a 360 photo booth, a Build-a-Bear activity, and more. Tickets for a beer garden and food from local restaurants will also be available for purchase at the door. The first 400 fans will receive a Nike Gameday T-shirt, and the first 200 Smithies will receive two free food tickets.
“We are so excited to be bringing the Gameday atmosphere to the birthplace!” says Director of Athletics and Recreation Kristin Hughes. “It’s a privilege to share the history, tell the story, and celebrate the success of Smith basketball and more broadly, Smith Athletics. It’s exciting to be part of a day that elevates our student-athletes and brings the community together.”
Gameday at the Birthplace will begin at 2 p.m., followed by a live pregame show, which can be livestreamed for free, at 3 p.m. hosted by ESPN women’s college basketball analyst Christy Thomaskutty and TV personality Jalynn Holmes. The Smith Bears will then go head-to-head with Immaculata University at 4 p.m. in a game that is free to attend and will also be livestreamed for free on YouTube.
