Biography

Leslie King’s research and teaching interests include population studies, environmental sociology, social movements and corporate power. Much of her research has focused on how ideologies of nationalism, gender, race and ethnicity, and class are implicated in the construction and implementation of population policies. More recent projects have examined the corporatization of social movement activism and corporate environmental sustainability.  Professor King teaches courses on corporate power, the sociology of food, and population politics.

King’s research appears in numerous scholarly journals, including Critical Sociology; Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences; Social Movement Studies; and Mobilization. In addition, she is co-editor of an anthology, Environmental Sociology: From Analysis to Action.
