Leah Blatt Glasser
Leah Blatt Glasser is the former senior class dean. She is excited to work with seniors as they progress toward graduation. She is interested in helping seniors gain access to new opportunities for success and intellectual growth as well as supporting them through the unique challenges that may arise at any point in this culminating year at Smith.
She brings extensive experience in teaching and advising. She was a member of the English department at Mount Holyoke College for many years, teaching upper-level American literature courses (cross-listed with environmental studies and gender studies), creative writing, and first-year seminars, while also serving in various capacities in the Office of Academic Deans, first as Dean of First-Year Studies, then Dean of the Senior Class, and finally Dean of Studies. One of her favorite experiences was serving as Posse mentor. She was the recipient of the Mount Holyoke Faculty Award for Teaching in 2021.
Dean Glasser earned her Ph.D. in English at Brown University and her B.A. at SUNY Stony Brook. She’s the author of In a Closet Hidden: The Life and Work of Mary E. Wilkins Freeman and has published essays in numerous anthologies as well as journals such as the Massachusetts Review, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Inside Higher Ed. In her spare time, she loves playing piano, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
