Biography

As chief of staff and liaison for government relations, Joanna Olin serves as a strategic advisor and partner to the president and works to advance her institutional goals through overseeing strategic planning, supporting presidential committees and meetings, and overseeing the administrative, operational, and financial affairs of the Office of the President. In her role as the college's liaison for government relations, Olin fosters and maintains relationships with local, state, and federal government officials, advocating for policies and initiatives that support the college's mission and goals. Olin joined Smith in 2018 from a similar role at Hampshire College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Michael’s College and a juris doctor from Western New England University School of Law.
