Biography

Hia Ghosh's research is in the area of Inclusive and Equitable Computational Instruction, using Universal Design principles to identify barriers in accessibility in a CS curriculum. Over the last four years, while teaching CS classes at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Mount Holyoke College, Ghosh’s work focused on creating diverse, accessible ways for students to learn, aiming to bridge gaps in traditional instructional methods. Ghosh's prior work is in Intrinsically Motivated Structured Learning as an application of Partially Observable Markov Decision Models in Robotics. With her background in Electrical Engineering, Ghosh's research involved interdisciplinary work in human-robot learning environments, combining embedded systems and active learning. Ghosh is also an actor and can often be seen in professional theater productions in the valley.
