Faculty Tenure and Promotions

Tenure and promotion recommendations approved earlier this year by the Board of Trustees for 17 Smith faculty members went into effect, July 1.

Promoted to Associate Professor with tenure are: Yanlong Guo, art; ; Jina Kim, English language and literature and the study of women and gender; Andrea Moore, music; Samuel Ng, Africana studies; Jiayan Sun, music; and Mariyana Zapryanova, economics.

Promoted to Professor are: Shannon Audley, education and child study; Payal Banerjee, sociology; and Sarah Witkowski, exercise and sport studies.

Promoted to Senior Lecturer are: Kelly Anderson, study of women and gender; Kate DeLugan,music; Adrián Gras-Velázquez, Spanish and Portuguese; Travis Norsen, physics; Erica Tibbetts, exercise and sport studies; and Lu Yu, East Asian languages and cultures.

Appointed as Associate Professor with tenure is: Lauron Kehrer, music

Additionally, The Trustees of Hampshire College have approved the following promotion that went into effect, July 1.

Promoted to Professor is: John Slepian, Hampshire College and Smith College, art department.

President Sarah Willie-LeBreton congratulated the faculty members on their “well deserved promotions.”
