Facilitated by Benita Jackson, Professor of Psychology and Faculty Wellness Fellow
Equity and wellness go hand in hand. As Dr. Kamilah Majied writes, “Just minds nurture wellness, and well minds nurture justice.” This session is inspired by lessons from Loretta J. Ross, Smith College faculty colleague in the Program for the Study of Women and Gender and MacArthur Fellow. We continue the conversation from the September 24 session about expanding our embodied capacities for calling in faculty to gain learning and build trust—starting with ourselves in our roles as faculty when we ourselves make missteps. We also consider contexts for and strategies constructively calling in people working at different institutional positions, in particular staff and students, toward creating stronger cultures of WE (wellness+equity). (Attendance at the September 24 session is not required.)
Copies of Calling In: How to Start Making Change with Those You’d Rather Cancel by Loretta J. Ross will be given to the first 15 attendees.
